Do I need a permit?

If you are unsure if your project requires a permit please contact the Code Enforcement Office before doing any work. Visit the Frequently Asked Questions page to find a quick answer. All permit applications are available to download on the Permits and Applications page.


Poland's Code Enforcement Officer, appointed annually by the town's Municipal Officers, is responsible for enforcing the town's adopted building and land use codes. According to chapter three of Poland's Comprehensive Land Use Code, the Code Enforcement Officer is also responsible for overseeing the inspections for all of the towns building, internal plumbing, electrical, fire safety, health, subsurface waste water, use, environmental protection, and accessibility permits.

Any complaints made by officials, agencies, or citizens must be investigated by the Code Enforcement Office. To make a complaint, click here.

This office establishes and maintains files of all permits issued, inspections made, violations discerned, any legal action and corrective action, condemnations, and appeals heard on each parcel of land.
