Rep Jessica Fay - April Update from Augusta

Dear Friend,

Greetings from Augusta! We’re more than halfway through the legislative session, and there is a lot to report.

Dozens of bills have made it through committee and to the House floor. Many of those bills have made it all the way to the Governor's desk and have been signed into law, including my bill to help keep our inland waters clean (see below). To see the whole list, click here.

While we’ve made a lot of progress, we still have plenty of bills left to debate. Pretty soon we’ll be wrapping up committee work and adding more and more days of session. That means there’s still a lot of time left for you to share your thoughts and perspective on the policies we are debating. Please reach out with any ideas or feedback you have.

As always, it is an honor to serve you.

Sincerely,

Jess Fay

Paul Hunt, Environmental Manager of the Portland Water District, Rep. Jessica Fay, D-Raymond, Gov. Janet Mills, Colin Holme, Executive Director of the Lakes Environmental Association and Susan Gallo, Executive Director of the Maine Lakes Society attended the formal signing of LD 216. This bill will require inspections of septic systems when property is transferred in all coastal zones in the state. This will keep nutrients and bacteria out of inland waters.
