Presidential Primary Election - Tuesday, March 5, 2023
The Presidential Primary Election will take place Tuesday, March 5, 2023 from 8 AM - 8 PM upstairs at the Town Hall. Primary Elections are used for parties to nominate a person to represent their party on the final ballot. You must be enrolled in a party to receive a ballot in this election.
For those enrolled in a party, you will receive a ballot for the party you are enrolled in. You must request any party changes before close of business, 4 PM, on Friday, February 23, 2023 in order to receive a party ballot for a different party.
The election clerks must hand you a party ballot if you are enrolled in a party that has a ballot, if you wish not to vote that ballot we ask that you enter it into the machine blank and the machine will tally those votes as blanks.
If you are not currently enrolled, UNENROLLED, in a party you can register in a party that day if you wish to get a party ballot. You must stay enrolled in that party for a minimum of 3 months before changing parties or becoming unenrolled again.
INDEPENDENT and UNENROLLED are not the same! Independent means you are part of the Green Independent party and will get a ballot for the Green Independent party, if they have one. You would have chosen this party affiliation when you registered to vote. You must follow the rules above for being in an enrolled party if you wish to vote a different party. Unenrolled means that you did not pick a party affiliation when you registered to vote and you would follow the rules above for unenrolled registrations if you wanted to vote a party ballot.
