WMS Partnership

Under the direction of Shannon Shanning, a group of Middle School students will have the opportunity to participate in a program offered by the Poland Fire Rescue Department. Students participating will go to the fire station each Wednesday for one hour to learn about basic fire prevention and education, as well as emergency medical response. These concepts will be integrated into each student's curriculum at school so that they have the opportunity to learn and apply concepts and strategies more effectively.

Throughout this process the Middle School students and staff will be working closely with the full-time staff at the station as well as with the Fire Chief, Mark Bosse. It is our vision that by the end of the trimester, all students participating will have the opportunity to receive their CPR Certification. Students and staff are excited about this unique opportunity. We are hopeful that this program will not only continue to be available to students in the future, but will help to make our students more involved, well rounded citizens.
