Conservation Commission

Vision Statement

The purpose of the Poland Conservation Commission is to study the value of lands in Poland that may be important for outdoor recreation, as water resources, as wildlife habitat, for timber harvesting, farming, historic or scenic value with a goal of implementing stewardship and preservation where appropriate.

Poland Conservation Commission

In March of 2008 the Poland Board of Selectmen established a new Conservation Commission. Appointed members were John Crouch, Sue Ellis, Fred Huntress, Richard Haslip, John Laskey and Don Stover.

The purpose of the Commission is to study the value of lands in Poland that may be important for outdoor recreation as water resources, wildlife habitat, timber harvesting, farming, historic or scenic value, with a goal of implementing stewardship and preservation where appropriate.

While focusing on issues of land preservation, the Commission will entertain any conservation related projects. They are especially interested in working closely with other Town committees and are hopeful that they can expand their membership to include citizens with a broad range of interests and values.
