Poland Summer Recreation Camp
1231 Maine St.
Poland, ME 04274
Introduction to the Program - The goal of the Summer Rec Camp is to provide a
safe, supervised place to participate in age appropriate activities. The object is to
promote good citizenship and a sense of community spirit through a fun, social
atmosphere. Here the children would have an opportunity to develop their
relationships with their friends and peers in their community — the town they
call home.
The program is a self-supporting fee based program governed by the Poland Recreation Department. The director, assistant directors and counselors
oversee the program curriculum and follow specific policies and procedures to ensure its success.
Orientation: We will have an orientation night on Wed, June 11th @ 6pm to allow parents, participants and staff an opportunity to discuss any issues or to answer any questions. We would greatly appreciate a parent from each family in attendance. A successful program evolves from good, positive communication. We will send out a reminder flier in May.

Any fees incurred for returned checks will be assessed accordingly. If balance is not paid by June 1st, you may lose your spot. This program operates solely on the registration fees of participants.
A $5.00 late fee will be assessed for every additional fifteen minutes your child remains at the program after closing to compensate staff accordingly.
Signing In & Out: Upon arrival, participants must check in with the counselor on duty. The campers will be released by the staff to the authorized individuals listed on the enrollment form only. Any deviation from that list must be in the form of a written permission slip.
Lunch and Snacks: Campers are responsible for bringing their own snacks and lunch and beverages. Please make sure it is packaged appropriately (coolers) to ensure its freshness. Extra fluids are encouraged on those hot summer field trip days.
Dress: Participants should dress comfortably and appropriately for the weather and activities. Please make sure sunscreen and bug repellent are supplied and campers have been instructed on how to use it properly.

It must be stressed that we expect safe, cooperative and respectful play within the designated area. Repeated offensives will be dealt with on an individual basis and may include suspension/expulsion from the program.
Sickness/Injury: Staff will be trained in CPR and first aid. Any injuries will be given immediate attention. Non-emergency injuries will be given first aid and the parent will be notified as the camper is picked up. In an emergency, the parent shall be notified immediately and the camper will be transported to the nearest hospital. Should a camper become ill during the program, the parents will be called to pick them up.
Medication: If it is necessary for a camper to take ANY medication, a medical permission form must be filled out. All medication will be maintained by the director to keep it out of the hands of other campers. Medications instructions must be clearly spelled out before we can give out any medication. Parents are responsible to notify staff of any changes in medication. Whenever possible medication should be accompanied with information regarding potential side effects.
Special needs: The Recreation Department will maximize resources in order to support any child with special needs who registers for this program. This will be determined on an individual basis. If it is determined that a child will not be able to attend due to specialized needs beyond our resources, we will do what we can to assist parents/guardians in finding an alternative program.
Personal Items: The program is not responsible for personal items brought to the program. Please use discretion in deciding what to bring.
Feedback: We encourage constructive feedback from parents and participants that will assist us in continual efforts to improve the quality of the program. Comments should be addressed to the Summer Camp Director.
