Hello Recreation Families,
You are receiving this e-mail if you have ever participated in one of our programs.~ The Recreation Dept has been in operation for over 8 years. As we plan for the next budget cycle, we thought this would be a good time to ask for feedback regarding our sports programs, specifically in regards to three areas: (1) registration fees (2) what participants are supplied with and (3) fundraising.
Your feedback will help us define how we provide recreational service. We are trying to come up with creative solutions to make these programs continue to work for our dept and more importantly for you the parents that have to pay for these programs; not to mention the additional costs typically associated with playing sports (i.e. cleats, gloves, accessories, etc...).
~
Please take a few minutes to respond to the following questions and e-mail/ mail back by no later than January 20th. Feel free to respond to as many of the sports programs as you like. We greatly appreciate your time and opinions!
Things to consider before filling out the survey…..
Operational costs: We charge each program an operational fee that (1) Pays for 42% of the part-time coordinator position that is not supported by tax revenue. (2) Buys First Aid kit supplies, coach's training material, office supplies, office equipment (ie: computers, copiers, paper, pens, printers, ink, calendars, keys, books, binders, etc). Besides revenue support from sports programs, we also gain support through discount ticket sales, and we receive a % of money from each instructed course we provide (i.e. drama, dance)
CIP Monies: We currently have $10,055.00 in our Capital Improvement Plan. Recreation CIP monies were implemented 3 yrs ago to support work on our recreational facilities. Though it does not cover all of the work we would like to do, we are extremely grateful that we~are receiving some funds. This current balance will be used to finish the work on Nadeau ball field. When we receive more CIP monies, we will begin looking at rehabbing lower PCS field and possibly Pine Grove field on Brown Rd.
Programs: Each program is self supporting and needs to cover all expenses affiliated with it. We are continually trying to improve the quality of our programs. The biggest expense associated with programming is the replacement of equipment over time.
Public Info: Any/all budget info our dept is public info. You can request hard copies of our reports. Thank you for taking the time to complete this important survey!
