Town Manager Report
February 3, 2009
- Significant time and effort drafting and re-drafting what now appears to be a balanced budget =)
- Met with CMP about some very significant tree trimming (clearing power lines from dead trees, etc.). They’ll be doing on almost all roads south of the causeway – Range Hill, Colbath, Rolly’s Camp, Outlet Rd. to name a few. Lucas Tree will be doing the work. There will be a notice in your February CMP bill. The wood is chunked up and left to the landowners if they want it, but Lucas grinds up the brush. They try to leave a stump of no more than 6”. They use all DEP/EPA approved standards near the water.
- Interviewed and ultimately hired Mr. John Brushwein for the CEO position. We are very pleased to have him aboard.
- Spent a fair amount of time on re-visiting Village Design standards / guidelines for your eventual review (included in the packet).
- Spent a fair amount of time also on bank prospecting. Also drafting a plan to shift some staff responsibilities and time to permit me more focus on economic development.
- Still working with the cable TV folks to balance out how to produce all the programming that is expected with folks of differing ideas, commitment and skill sets.
- The 1/27 elections were conducted with only 62 voters.
- General assistance requests have been very high taking a lot of staff time and effort.
- Met about Heritage Day on May 24th and how community groups can get involved in a town-wide celebration.
- I wrote several articles for the newsletter that should get to people’s homes in latter part of February.
