Conservation Commission
Minutes of 3-11-09
Meeting called to order at 6:35PM.
Members Present:
Donald Stover, Chairman, Fred Huntress, John Laskey and Tom Coffin
Members absent:
Rich Haslip, John Crouch, and Sue Ellis, Joe Cimino and Dana Lee
Plan for Town Meeting:
We shall need to prepare a handout concerning Conservation Budget request and make personal contacts to encourage citizens to attend Town Meeting and vote for Conservation Fund warrant and budget warrant.
Trail outing March 21:
Tom Coffin presented his excellent progress and detailed plans. Date and time were set for March 21, 1-4:30pm. Refreshments—coffee, cocoa and snacks will be provided. Tom is doing extensive publicity. Fred will lead a trail walk and demonstrate tapping a maple tree. Fred is also going to put tree identification signs on a few trees. Members present voted approval and thanks to Tom for his excellent planning.
This is an ambitious program and Tom will need help from everyone. Please contact him to offer your assistance
Grants:
The Project Canopy grant is almost ready to go. Dana is waiting for figures from New England Forestry Consultants. Fred said he would get this data to Dana.
Habitat Forum:
We need to make special effort to get people to attend. Can each of you do at least what you did (phone calls, etc.) for the last forum? Dana has done some good publicity on this, but we need to get special invitations to Select Board and members of other committees. Please offer your help to Don.
Other agenda items:
Because of the limited attendance all other agenda items were postponed until next meeting.
Next meeting April 8, 2009 at 6:30pm.
