How do I license my dog in the Town of Poland?
Deadline: January 31, 2012
Dog owners in Poland are required by state law to license their dogs no later than when the dog reaches the age of 6 months or no later than 10 days after taking ownership of a dog. Owners must show a current rabies certificate and proof of neutering/spaying, if applicable. License fees are $11 for male/female and $6 for neutered/spayed. For a kennel license the animal control officer must inspect the facility and fill out a report before the license can be issued. It must also be allowable by town ordinances. For a kennel license for 1 to 10 dogs the fee is $42.
Dogs may be licensed via mail by providing a copy of the dog's current rabies certificate and proof of neutering/spaying, if applicable, along with the required fee. Please mail the information and check or money order to Town of Poland, 1231 Maine St. Poland, Maine 04274.
Per State law, after January 31, 2012, a $25.00 late fee will be added to EACH license for all dogs not licensed by the age of 6 months and after 10 days of ownership.
