Purpose & Goals
The purpose of this board is to support and guide the operation of the Recreation Department in consideration of the community’s recreational interests.
Advisory Board Expectations
The Advisory Board will be facilitated by the Recreation Director.
Positions will be offered as appointments with the approval by the Town Manager and Poland Board of Selectmen for a period of two years.
Anyone interested in being on the Advisory Board will have a background check done as part of the approval process.
Brief 20-30 minute interviews will be conducted for anyone applying to be on the Advisory Board.
Meetings will be held one time per month on the 2nd Monday of each month at an established location from 6:30 -8:00 pm.
This Board will be established as a non-voting Board.
Final decisions regarding practices of the Recreation Department will be the responsibility of the Recreation Director.
The board will meet to brainstorm and discuss new programs, ways of improving existing programs, issues that come up regarding programming, volunteers, policies, fundraising and any other information that is pertinent to recreation for the community.
This board will act as an ambassador for the Recreation Department with the goal of improving the quality of life for community members by making safety the number one priority along with developing positive interaction, social well-being, teamwork, community integration, leisure interests, spirit and creating opportunity.
All members of the community will be invited to attend Advisory Board meetings.
