GENERAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM PUBLIC NOTICE The municipality of Poland administers a General Assistance program for the support of the poor. Pursuant to Title 22, MRSA § 4305, the municipal officers have adopted an ordinance establishing that program. A copy of the ordinance and pertinent statutes is available for public inspection at the Town Office during regular Town Office business hours.
Persons who wish to apply for General Assistance may do so according to the following schedule:

MONDAYS 2:00PM – 5:00PM
NON-EMERGENCIES ARE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.
EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE If your situation is an unforeseen and life threatening one the General Assistance Administrator shall schedule an emergency appointment to review your situation.
IN AN EMERGENCY, WHEN THIS OFFICE IS CLOSED, PLEASE CONTACT THE ANDROSCOGGIN COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT AT 753-2599.
Decisions are issued within 24 hours of receipt of a completed application.
